Physical Therapist Assistant

Brooks Austin

PTA

Brooks is a South Lake Tahoe native whose love of travel has let her live on the island of Tobago in the Caribbean and on the Big Island of Hawaii. Her path to physical therapy began with her own health challenge — an experience she describes as life‑changing, both physically and mentally. The care she received inspired a deep appreciation for the profession and a commitment to helping others reclaim movement, health, and joy.

Brooks earned her Associate of Science in Kinesiology from Lake Tahoe Community College before being accepted into the Physical Therapist Assistant program at the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts in San Mateo, California. During her time there, she served as class president, graduated at the top of her class, and received her Physical Therapist Assistant degree. She currently holds PTA licensure in California and Nevada and has practiced since 2022. Brooks’ passion for physical therapy continues to grow as she expands her knowledge, pursues additional certifications, and develops new skills to better serve her community.

Outside the clinic, Brooks is most at home in nature. She enjoys camping, paddleboarding, kayaking, snowboarding, and has recently added mountain biking to her list of outdoor adventures. She loves spending time with her dogs, Creature and Tucker, and her husband, Scott.
